Staying at home this Easter and Summer to enjoy the best Northern Ireland has to offer, may prove a cost effective exciting option for many, with the launch of a new visitor attraction discount package.
Geared towards encouraging visitors into the West of Northern Ireland, the Visitor Passport 2009 wil
l provide discounts into 27 attractions Fermanagh, Tyrone and the Sperrins, and Londonderry.
Developed by Western Regional Tourism Partnership the new Visitor Passport will offer fantastic discounts including 25per cent and two for one offers at destinations such as the Marble Arch Caves, Tower Museum, Ulster American Folk Park and Tyrone Crystal. It is available at Tourist Information Centres and participating attractions across the western region of Northern Ireland and the Belfast Welcome Centre.
Visitors are encouraged to select an attraction, pay full price, which will give entitlement to the discounts on offer at the other visitor attractions listed in the passport.
Visiting an attraction earns a stamp, and with three stamps collected you can enter a competition to win a weekend break in one of the regions taking part in the scheme.
Nigel Hill, chairman of Western Regional Tourism Partnership said:"
"We are delighted to present the Visitor Passport Scheme, which is a first for the Western Regional Tourism Partnership. Many of our top attractions are participating and it is hoped that it will encourage visitors, from across Northern Ireland and within the region, to experience our many wonderful visitor attractions and avail of the great value discounts on offer. We also hope visitors will consider extending their stay with us which will help to boost the local tourism economy."
Western Regional Tourism Partnership comprises of seven local authorities areas of Londonderry, Omagh, Fermanagh, Cookstown, Dugannon South Tyrone, Magherafelt and Strabane and four marketing agencies including Derry Visitor and Convention Bureau, Fermanagh Lakeland Tourism, Flavour of Tyrone and Sperrins Tourism.
Funding for the Visitor Passport Scheme was secured from International Fund for Ireland through Northern Ireland Tourist Board.
