Tom Elliott UUP MLA has been unanimously endorsed by Ulster Unionist Party members in the Fermanagh South Tyrone brance of the party as the Ulster Unionist candidate to contest the next general election in Fermanagh and South Tyrone.
The endorsement was made at the latest annual general meeting of the branch at which shadow secretary of state Owen Paterson MP was a guest.
Mr Elliott said: "At the next Westminster elections, which will probably be next year, the Ulster Unionists in partnership with Conservative Party will put up candidates, whom if elected will belong to the Government. It is a great honour to have been selected by Ulster Unionist Party to try and win back this seat which was so wretchedly won by Sinn Fein in 2001.
"It is vital that this seat is won back for Unionism and for all those people across Fermanagh and South Tyrone who have suffered by not having any representation at Westminster for the last eight years."
