These residential courses are aimed at age groups (10-20yrs) providing age-related activities which entertain and provide opportunities for personal and social development and prolonged engagement with a healthy outdoor adventurous activity.

Information and application forms for the Summer programme can be obtained from libraries and all schools and youth groups registered with both the Western and Southern Education and Library Boards (WELB/SELB). In addition, schools and youth groups will also receive the brochure of bookings for the academic year 2009–10.
SUMMER CAMPS
A camping experience where young people get the opportunity to try out a lot of new and exciting adventure activities whilst making friends from across both Board areas.

EXPLORER CHALLENGE – Cost £160
This is both a physically and mentally challenging adventure for those
who consider themselves reasonably fit. It will involve travelling through
and living in a variety of outdoor environments.
Course Date:- 31st July – 9th August
Age Range: 15 – 17

WESTERN CHALLENGE – Cost £200
This two week intensive course helps young adults develop skills to enable them to work as a team and lead others in the outdoors. It is a useful progression from Explorer Challenge. This course also provides an opportunity to complete the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Gold Residential Section.

CAMP COUNSELLOR – Cost £80
Are you a school leaver thinking ahead of working abroad as a camp counsellor in Summer 2010? This is an opportunity for you to acquire on home ground first the skills necessary for this popular student work opportunity in the USA and elsewhere. It will commence with a self-catering 6-day training programme to be followed by practical experience on the summer camps run at Gortatole. This course also provides an opportunity to complete the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Gold Residential Section.
Course Date: 30th June – 5th July Age Range: 17+
